THERE’S no rush for Kevin Quiambao to unleash the very best he has to offer straight away — as if he hasn’t already been at the top of his game now in his third season for La Salle.

But for the reigning UAAP MVP, the long-term key to bringing out 100 percent of what he’s capable of is to just be one percent better than he was yesterday.

At 23 years old, Quiambao still has his whole life and a promising career ahead of him wherever and whenever that may be.

The next three months or so, though, will all be about keeping the UAAP championship at home base in Taft.

“Sa’kin, one percent better every day lang talaga. Kung ano ‘yung kinalabasan last season, hihigitan pa namin, pero one game at a time kami.

Leader of the hunted

While the fire of the Green Archers' UAAP Season 86 title run remains alive and burning, it’s one they won’t be basking in for any longer.

For after securing a perfect three-game start to Season 87, the process of finding gains to replicate a masterful championship campaign and make it better is one they’ll have to trust and take time with.

This time around, Quiambao will have bigger shoes to fill as the undisputed leader of a young and hungry green-and-white pack.
