LA SALLE completed a lopsided rout of UST, 100-69, to begin Round 2 of UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball season on a high note at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.
Leading MVP contender Kevin Quiambao took charge with 22 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and five steals in 23 minutes as the Archers improved to 5-3 (win-loss).

Now at 1-7, the Tigers were sent crashing back to earth after putting an end to a record 19-game losing skid just last week.
Jonnel Policarpio also came out big for the Taft side with 14 points, 11 boards, and five assists.

“What’s good for us coming into the second round is how we were able to look at where we can still improve on. The standings are close, every game really matters, and we wanted to set the tone off the bat,” said La Salle head coach Topex Robinson.
“The players responded to the challenge and I’m just happy for these guys who really worked hard as a team,” he added.
There was no stopping the Archers from the opening tip, with their lead ballooning to as high as 31 — one that the Tigers simply couldn’t overcome.
In the end, Quiambao and Policarpio’s double-doubles gave La Salle back-to-back wins for only the second time this season.
