KEVIN FERRER will be playing with a mask for the next one to two months owing to a fractured left cheek bone.
The University of Santo Tomas swingman suffered the injury when he was accidentally elbowed by University of the East cager Ralf Olivares in their UAAP men’s basketball game last week.
Ferrer already wore the mask last Sunday against Far Eastern University. Unlike the others who prefer the transparent kind, the UST stalwart’s mask is colored black and made of carbon fiber, making it more durable.
“Mas matibay daw kasi ‘yun,” he reasoned out.
The UST forward said he is still adjusting to playing with a mask on although it didn’t show in his performance as Ferrer tallied 18 points in a losing effort against the Tamaraws, 67-77.
“Nahihirapan kasi nag-aadjust pa ako. Nakuha ko lang ‘yung mask noong Sabado,” Ferrer added.
