Karim Abdul averaged 14.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.7 blocks last year en route to his third straight Mythical Five selection, but the season became so frustrating for the UST Tigers he ripped his own teammates after one loss. J

KARIM Abdul has committed to play his fifth year with the University of Santo Tomas in UAAP Season 78.

UST coach Bong Dela Cruz bared Abdul expressed his intention to suit up for the Tigers one last time this year and finish his collegiate career with a bang following a tumultuous Season 77.

“Eto daw ang last playing year niya kaya kailangan niyang tapusin ng maayos,” said Dela Cruz.

Abdul averaged 14.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.7 blocks last year en route to his third straight Mythical Five selection, but the season became so frustrating he ripped his own teammates after one loss.

Abdul later apologized for his comments but not even that could save UST from a dismal five-win season in their first year after longtime coach Pido Jarencio decided to leave the Tigers to take on a coaching job in the PBA.

The Tigers will see action in the Filoil preseason tournament with their veteran core that includes Kevin Ferrer, Louie Vigil, and Ed Daquioag, who decided not to play in the PBA D-League to focus on UST’s preparation for the UAAP.
