UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas will be without starting center Karim Abdul in its UAAP men's basketball game against the University of the East on Wednesday, dealing a major blow to the Tigers' bid to snap out of a two-game losing streak.
According to a report in the digital version of UST's school paper The Varsitarian, the 6-7 Abdul has been confined since Monday at the UST hospital due to a viral infection.
Abdul has actually been suffering from dehydration and cold since the Tigers' game against Ateneo last week and played through the illness in another game against La Salle over the weekend, the report added.
The Tigers lost both games.
Without Abdul, the 3-3 Tigers will have to rely heavily on Paolo Pe and Kent Lao when they go up against UE's formidable frontline led by Charles Mammie and Mustaph Arafat.
