AN inspired Alyssa Valdez didn’t plan for Valentine’s Day.
The Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) three-time Ms. Volleyball, who has been elusive about her love life, revealed that she ended Feb. 14 with another Spartan-like training and a long-ride to her hometown of San Juan, Batangas.
“Training? Uuwi? Hindi ko alam,” she said during the post-game interview that followed Ateneo’s easy, 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 win over University of the Philippines in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
She then returned the question to sportswriters by asking, “Ano bang plan ninyo sa Valentine’s?”
In a separate interview, Valdez, 22, revealed that she draws inspiration to recognitions that were given to her such as the one she received during the PSA Annual Awards Night on Saturday.
But the UAAP back-to-back MVP also said she wants pay back by inspiring others.
“Getting awards like this is a big responsibility for me,” she said. “Also to inspire other people para magperform well also (in sports and in life).”
“As much as ganoon ang nararamdaman ko, I want this award to be an inspiration and motivation (for me) to perform better and to polish all the skills na pwede ko pang kailangan i-improve,” she added.
Valdez’s rumored boyfriend Kiefer Ravena was also at the One Esplanade in Pasay during the PSA rites, but left earlier.
When asked what are his plans for Valentine’s Day, he said, “wala.”
