COMING off a disastrous two-win campaign in UAAP Season 86, University of Sto. Tomas has beefed up its coaching staff with the additions of veteran coaches Juno Sauler and Peter Martin.
UST head coach Pido Jarencio warmly welcomed his new deputies alongside San Miguel Corporation (SMC) sports director Alfrancis Chua, Institute of Physical Education and Athletics head Fr. Rodel Cansancio, OP, and team managers Eric Ang and Waiyip Chong on Wednesday evening.

"Winner parehas itong tutulong sa atin at masaya tayo dahil marami ang maituturo ni Coach Juno [Sauler] at Coach Peter [Martin] sa mga bata papunta doon sa binubuo nating winning culture," said Jarencio.
Sauler is a UAAP champion coach himself with the De La Salle Green Archers back in Season 76 (2013) in a thrilling finals comeback from 0-1 down — one that happened to be at the expense of Jarencio's UST side.
Moreover, he is also among Chito Victolero's deputies for the league-leading Magnolia side in the PBA after a similar stint with Barangay Ginebra.
Martin, meanwhile, has been a longtime member of the SMC stable as a mainstay in San Miguel's coaching staff for the last decade which saw the Beermen bag nine PBA titles.
Sauler and Martin join Tigers coaches Japs Cuan, Jeric Fortuna, Juben Ledesma, Jaren Jarencio, and Ian Herrera with Northport head coach Bonnie Tan as team consultant in a bid to end UST's five-year Final Four drought come UAAP Season 87 later this year.
