JUAN Gomez de Liano of the University of the Philippines won the Rookie of the Year award for UAAP Season 80.
Gomez de Liano got the highest ranking among freshmen - and 14th in the overall statistical points standings with 46.6923 total SPs, according to an official statistics report by Imperium Technology.
Only rookies fresh from high school are eligible to receive the Rookie of the Year award.
The 17-year-old Gomez de Liano averaged 11.6 points per game, third-best in the UP Maroons team behind Paul Desiderio and Jun Manzo.
The six-foot De Liano also contributed 6.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.
Kyles Lao in 2013 was the last UP player to win the Rookie of the Year.
