Former Squires star Joshua Ramirez leaves Letran for La Salle
Feb 22, 2020

ONE of Letran's exciting young prospects has taken a U-turn as Joshua Ramirez has opted to take his act to La Salle.

Sources confirmed that the 6-foot-4 swingman has pulled out of earlier commitment to play for the Knights in the NCAA and will instead suit up for UAAP side La Salle.

Ramirez, who was part of the Gilas Youth pool in the 2019 Fiba Under-19 World Cup, averaged 13.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists for the Squires as they finished with an 8-10 card in the NCAA Season 95 juniors basketball tournement.

He can suit up for the Green Archers in the UAAP Season 83 wars if he makes the cut.

La Salle is looking to end a two-year Final Four drought under new head coach Derrick Pumaren and has been stockpiling in assets, with the Taft-based school recently securing the transfer of Evan Nelle from San Beda.

Meanwhile, Letran still looks fine even after the departure of Ramirez as it leans on Fran Yu and Larry Muyang.

The Knights have earlier trotted out new faces in Diliman College transferee Joseph Brutas and Cebuano rookie Kenny Rogers Rocacurva as they begin their buildup for a title retention bid in the NCAA.
