JOE Silva was short and sweet in his decision to suddenly resign as the head coach of University of the East on Tuesday.
In a statement, he said: "Since manangement has decided to move in a different direction, I am resigning as head coach of UE."
Silva, a former UAAP champion coach with the Ateneo Blue Eaglets, only spent one season at the helm for the Red Warriors and amassed a 1-13 record with the Alvin Pasaol-led squad last year.
In a tweet on his personal account, the young bench tactician also wished nothing but the best for UE this season.
"Nothing but love for the UE community. Good luck to all the players coaches, school officials and the whole community. Thanks for making UE my second home. Once a warrior always a warrior. #bombaUE," he posted.
Bong Tan replaced Silva at the helm, with head of basketball operations Lawrence Chongson working closely in an active deputy status this UAAP Season 82.
However, in an interview with the school's official publication UE Dawn, Chongson said that Silva's dismal showing in his lone year led to his exit.
"His ineffectiveness and incapablities even came out of the mouth of our very own boss already," said the outspoken mentor.

Chongson also explained that the decision "wasn't a knee-jerk reaction," with sources close to the situation baring that the former Tanduay mentor has been the one calling the shots for the Red Warriors for the past four months of their buildup.
Silva signed a three-year contract with UE after his run with the Blue Eaglets, where he won two titles in the juniors division behind Kai Sotto and Dave Ildefonso.
He, however, tendered his resignation as early as last Wednesday before school officials led by school president Ester Albano-Garcia only accepting the decision on Monday.
