JERSON Prado is unfazed by a serious injury that sidelined the University of the Philippines rookie for the rest of UAAP Season 78, saying he is looking forward to rejoining the Maroons next year.

Prado suffered a medial cruciate ligament (MCL) tear in his right knee as well as a slight tear in his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during their first-round match against Adamson a few weeks ago.

As serious as his injury was, Prado didn't sound discouraged when Spin.ph spoke to him briefly on his way out of the Big Dome on Wednesday following the team’s game against Far Eastern University.

“There’s no problem,” said the 20-year-old Prado when asked how he was feeling following the injury.

“When it’s your time, it’s your time,” Prado added.

Prado confirmed that he will have to sit it out for eight months, a period that will include healing and rehabilitation.

Prado, who studied in Australia before landing a spot with the Maroons, admitted there is still pain in his knee although he is scheduled for surgery next month.

“I’m just waiting for the ligaments to heal and then I’ll get operated on November 9 for the ACL injury. There is still some pain right now especially in the inside leg,” said Prado.

Now that he is done for the season, Prado said he will still be there to support the team as shown on Wednesday when he showed up at the UP bench despite having to walk with the help of crutches, his knee protected by a heavy brace.

“I’m pushing to support the team,” said Prado.
