JERRICK Ahanmisi has sustained his impressive play as Adamson vies for a two-two spot in the UAAP Season 80 basketball semifinals.
For helping keep the Falcons in contention for a twice-to-beat inventive, Ahanmisi was picked Chooks To Go-UAAP Press Corps Player of the Week by writers covering the league.
The Fil-American guard averaged 18.5 points per game in the past two games and was voted for the weekly citation over Paul Desiderio of University of the Philippines, Ricci Rivero of La Salle, and Thirdy Ravena of Ateneo by writers from broadsheets, tabloids and online publications.
Ahanmisi scored 21, including crucial shots in the end game to lead the Falcons to slim victory over winless University of Sto. Tomas before again leading Adamson to victory over struggling National University, tallying 16 points including four triples.
Adamson remained in contention for a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four with an 8-4 record, although chances are slim as it sits behind second-place La Salle (10-2).
Unbeaten Ateneo has secure the first twice-to-beat advantage.
Ahanmisi said it is still a learning process for him and the Falcons especially after the close win over UST, and the win over NU that saw the Falcons lose a 28-point lead.
“I think we should learn from that. We should have not let them come back like that,” said Ahanmisi, referring to the win over NU.
