JERRICK Ahanmisi sank crucial shots in end game as Adamson escaped with a 75-70 win over University of Santo Tomas on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Ahanmisi scored 10 of the Falcons' last 12 points, including a jumper with 54.3 seconds left for a 70-66 lead.

The Fil-Am guard’s baskets came at a huge time after Adamson struggled to put UST away in the game. Oliver De Guzman hit a go-ahead jumper for a 64-63 lead with 2:23 left.

But Ahanmisi had nerves of steel, hitting a triple to regain the lead for Adamson, 66-64, before holding on to the slim lead.

The win was Adamson’s seventh in 11 matches, two games behind second-running La Salle (9-4), which clinched a semifinal berth with a victory over University of the East.

“It’s so hard to play a team like UST especially there is no pressure on them,” said Adamson coach Franz Pumaren.

“Nothing against them, but they are just playing with a free-flowing mind. No need for them to really push themselves because they are out of the Final Four.”

Ahanmisi wound up with 21 points on 6-of-14 shooting, while Papi Sarr added 12 points and 14 rebounds including two free throws that broke a 66-66 deadlock with 1:33 left.
