LA Salle looks to breathe life into its fading semifinal hopes, while also-ran UP hopes to claim a big scalp in a bid to post a respectable finish as the two skidding squads collide on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 78 men’s basketball tournament at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Green Archers take on the Fighting Maroons at 4 p.m., confident of stopping a three-game skid that has dropped them to fifth place with a 5-7 win-loss slate.
Archers coach Juno Sauler believes they are still on track for the semifinals despite a stinging loss to Ateneo, 73-62, on Sunday.
After the UP match, the Archers get a few days off break before their final elimination-round match against Far Eastern University on Nov. 18.
“We just have to take care of business in the last two games,” Sauler said.
UP, at 3-9 and also on a three-game slide, is out of contention for a Final Four berth after its 69-75 loss to National University but is determined to end the season on a high note.
University of Santo Tomas battles Adamson at 2 p.m. with the Growling Tigers going for a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.
The Tigers improved their record to 10-3 after an 85-76 win over league leader Far Eastern University that ended a two-game skid.
Adamson ends its Season 78 on Wednesday and will go for a big finish after the Falcons defeated University of the East, 74-71, on Saturday.
