JERON Teng admitted he was disappointed not to be able to play for La Salle in Sunday’s match against Ateneo, but said his health is of utmost importance moving forward in the UAAP Season 79 campaign.
As he watched from the bench in street clothes, Teng said he became envious of teammates while they had fun on the floor in what is likely the penultimate La Salle-Ateneo game of his college career.
“Siyempre, medyo nainggit ako. Gusto ko sana maglaro. Na-inspire ako sa kanila kasi nag-enjoy sila,” said Teng.
Teng walked with the aid of crutches as he was interviewed by reporters after the 97-81 win over Ateneo. He could miss at least a week due to an ankle injury as well as tendinitis.
The La Salle sensation is taking his recovery a day at a time, hoping that he will feel better as each day passes.
“Hopefully, next game, makakalaro na ako. Actually day-to-day basis siya (‘yung injury). Bukas pa lang ako magpapa-check-up,” said Teng.
Even though he has been feeling the injury since the offseason, Teng hopes to be in pink of health for the next round.
“Since Filoil (preseason tournament) pa ‘to eh. Medyo iniinda ko na ‘to. I just want to be 100 percent pagdating ng crucial second round,” said Teng.
