    Magical half-court shot at the buzzer can't ease the pain for La Salle's Jeron Teng

    JERON Teng’s heave from the half court may have been the play of the game during the La Salle-University of Santo Tomas tussle in Sunday’s main game in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

    Unfortunately, the magical shot that went in for the final score wasn’t enough to rescue the Green Archers.

    The Archers lost to the Growling Tigers, 79-81, as they blew an 11-point lead in the fourth period.

    Teng made the final score close upon converting a desperation heave from way behind the half court that beat the final buzzer.

    A netizen, @RegSheeran, was able to capture Teng’s improbable triple.

    Unfortunately, the last-second shot hardly eased the pain for Teng.

    Teng was also hard on himself after failing to make some crucial shots late in the game, including a three-point try that rattled out as the Archers were breathing down the necks of the Tigers. He finished with 16 points.

    The son of former pro Alvin Teng turned to Twitter to express his frustration over the loss, the fourth in eight outings for the Taft-based school.

    Teng though, is motivated to bounce back starting with the Archers’ next game on Wednesday against University of the East.

    “Painful loss! Will definitely use this as motivation for our next games,” wrote Teng on his Twitter account @jeronteng.
