JEROME Garcia showed the way as Emilio Aguinaldo College defeated Mapua, 85-72, on Thursday in the NCAA Season 93 basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Garcia scored had 23 of his 27 points in the first half and the Generals hiked their mark to 5-6, joining Letran in a tie for fifth place.
Mapua slipped to its 10th straight defeat for a 1-11 slate.
Garcia, a transferee from Adamson, hit five triples in the first half as the Generals took a 53-39 lead.
Garcia shot 9 for 19, including 6 of 12 from the three-point line for an EAC team that is still looking to put together a run with injuries to its players led by big man Hamadou Laminou.
"Kinausap ko lang siya na Jerome, usual game lang. Kung open, sige tira lang basta get back on defense," said EAC coach Ariel Sison.
Sidney Onwubere scored 16 points and hauled 15 rebounds for the Generals.
Laurenz Victoria tallied 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the struggling Cardinals, who have not won since their second game of the season against Letran.
JB Raflores added 14 markers for Mapua.
