LA Salle active consultant Jermaine Byrd isn't dwelling too much on the Archers' loss to Far Eastern University on Wednesday, saying it is simply as a result of a bad shooting night.

"I thought we played well enough to win the game. I just thought that we just didn't make any shots and that's been a massive concern for us. It's been a problem for a while now," he said.

The Green Archers shot horribly against the Tamaraws, going on a 31-percent clip, including a 7-of-30 shooting from downtown, good for just 23-percent, in the 11-point loss.

It's a far cry to La Salle's league-leading average of 39-percent field goal shooting through four games this UAAP Season 82.

As much as Byrd was happy with the defensive job the Green Archers had against the Tamaraws, that atrocious shooting night negated any positives from that.

"Normally, we've been having problems stopping people. This game, we held them to 66 points, but we only scored 55, so the name of the game is to outscore the next team," he said while giving a toast to the opposition. "Give credit to them. They also played a good game."

But even though La Salle finds itself at the bottom half of the standings with its 1-3 win-loss card, Byrd remains resolute as he hopes to prove a lot of doubters wrong despite this slow start.

"The season's not over. I know a lot of people are going to write us off, I know a lot of people are going to try to bash my team and bash myself. But we're going to keep fighting," he said.

"It was just one of those days where you seem to not be able to buy a basket. Again, basketball is a make-or-miss game. Our best players, they got the shots that I wanted them to have and they got the shots that they want to have, we just didn't make them."

La Salle looks to snap this two-game losing skid against Adamson on Saturday at Ynares Center in Antipolo.
