JERIC TENG admits that the entry of his younger brother Jeron to La Salle gives him additional motivation to perform better for this season.
“May kapatid rin tayo sa La Salle kaya hindi tayo papatalo,” said the elder Teng after his University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers defeated National University on Saturday.
The younger Teng quickly made waves in basketball with his 104-point game in high school before suiting up for La Salle.
Jeron is also picking up the leadership role for the Archers even in his rookie season and that posts an even bigger challenge for Jeric as he leads UST this season.
“Kaming dalawa, china-challenge namin ang isa’t isa kaya mas maganda para sa amin,” said Jeric.
So far, the Tigers’ Teng has been delivering the numbers. He erupted for 21 points to top UST in scoring in the Tigers’ 77-71 win over NU. He also went 3-of-7 from three-point distance along with 11 rebounds to lift the Tigers to the come-from-behind win.
The fourth-year forward also had 16 points in the Tigers’ come-from-behind win over Ateneo last July 19.
“Siguro motivated lang ako dahil nakikita ko kung saan papunta ’yung team. I’m confident na kaya ng team namin kaya ginagawa ko ’yung best ko,” said Teng.
The Teng brothers will face off for the first time in the UAAP next Saturday as the Tigers take on the Green Archers.
“Excited ako dahil first time namin na magka-match-up. Bahala na si coach kung magbabantayan kami,” said Teng.
