UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas gunner Jeric Teng was no more than a spectator on the bench during an 85-69 win over University of the East, and he swore it wasn’t a comfortable feeling.
“Of course I wanted to play (against UE) but I'm happy that my teammates stepped up,” said the Tigers’ starting forward, who has been sidelined by an MCL grade 1 injury suffered in practice prior to the UE game.
A grade 1 injury is a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament on the knee joint area. Such injuries usually take two weeks to heal well enough for a player to get back on court.
Teng is currently undergoing therapy and will sit out the Wednesday match against University of the Philippines, but the 2009 Rookie of the Year is confident he can be back in action by the time the second round of the eliminations comes around.
“I'm having my therapy now. I’m sure I can play in the second round when we go up against the tough teams,” Teng said.
