FIL-Australian playmaker Jasper Rentoy is bringing his act to University of the East.
The 18-year-old announced his decision on Sunday, rebooting his dreams of playing college ball in the country.
"I'm excited to announce that I have committed to the University of the East," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
A standout for international team AusPinoy, Rentoy averaged 23.7 points on 43 percent shooting, on top of 5.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals in the 2019 Chooks-to-Go NBTC League National Finals.
The 6-foot-1 court general was expected to join St. Benilde in the NCAA last year, but decided to go back to Australia to recover from a fractured ankle.
Rentoy will undergo residency and can suit up as early as the UAAP Season 83 next year, giving coach Joe Silva a solid point guard for the future.
