JASON Perkins will play a fourth and final year with De La Salle Green Archers in Season 79 of the UAAP instead of joining the PBA Rookie Draft.
A source told Spin.ph that Perkins has opted to play one last year with the Green Archers, quashing speculation that the wide-bodied big man with the soft touch from the outside is leaving the Taft-based school after joining the last PBA D-League draft.
The Fil-American forward needs to play in the D-League to be eligible for the PBA draft.
The source added La Salle has broken policy and allowed Perkins to play in the coming season of the PBA D-League, where he was made the No. 1 draft pick overall by the Caida Tile Master.
In previous years, La Salle has not allowed its players to play in amateur leagues like the PBA D-League.
With Perkins' still on board, La Salle now has a veteran big man to pair with Cameroonian center Ben Mbala, who is set to be eligible to suit up for the Green Archers in Season 79.
Perkins averaged 7.1 points and 8.6 rebounds for the Green Archers in UAAP Season 78 but the team fell just short of a spot in the Final Four.
Incidentally, Jeron Teng has previously announced that he will be staying on with the Green Archers, who will be handled by former Letran coach Aldin Ayo next season following the departure of Juno Sauler.
