    Jamie Malonzo scores 34 as La Salle ends Season 82 campaign with rout of Adamson

    JAMIE Malonzo exploded for 34 points as La Salle ended its UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament on a high with an 89-63 victory over Adamson on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.

    The forward from Portland State University waxed hot from deep as he shot 7-of-12 from beyond the arc, while also hauling down 12 rebounds to help the Green Archers end the tournament at 7-7.

    Justine Baltazar also racked a double-double of 14 points and 13 boards, while senior guard Andrei Caracut capped off his collegiate career with 14 points, six assists and three rebounds.

    Malonzo came hot off the gates, firing 11 points in the opening frame as La Salle staged a 25-12 first quarter.

    The Green Archers enjoyed a lead as high as 30 points, 66-36, after an Encho Serrano layup at the 1:50 mark of the third quarter.

    Justine Baltazar also racked a double-double of 14 points and 13 boards, while senior guard Andrei Caracut capped off his collegiate career with 14 points, six assists and three rebounds.

    "Lots of learnings for us. Hats off to Malonzo and Caracut. They ended their college careers well," said coach Gian Nazario.

    La Salle shot 42 percent from the field and 46 percent from deep, while also beating Adamson off the boards, 63 to 43.

    Unfortunately, it was a good game too late for the Green Archers as they missed the Final Four for the second consecutive season.

    AP Manlapaz paced the Soaring Falcons with 15 points and four rebounds, while Jerom Lastimosa scored 10.

    Adamson ended the season on a four-game losing streak to finish with a 4-10 card.
