ISAAC Go would rather not take all the credit for his clutch three-pointer that that sealed Ateneo's win in Game Three of theUAAP Season 80 men's basketball finals against La Salle.
Go finished with just seven points but came up with the biggest shot of all - a three-pointer inside the final 24.7 seconds to give the Blue Eagles an 85-80 cushion just as the Green Archers were in the midst of a fiery, make-or-break comeback.
“Today is the feast of St. Francis Xavier. Maybe he had a hand on it,” said Go, citing the patron saint of Xavier School - where he spent his high school days - and Ateneo.
After the game, the Ateneo crowd chanted the name of Go, who in turn, got a huge hug from coach Tab Baldwin.
Go, however, said he doesn’t want all the credit for that clutch shot.
“Everybody thinks that I’m clutch because I’m making shots at that moment. But without the execution of the coaching staff, without their brains, without the recognition of my teammates, without them, I won’t have had the opportunity to take the shot” said Go.
This was not the first time Go delivered at crunch time.
In Game One, the 21-year-old big man also made a pressure-packed basket to clinch Ateneo’s 76-70 win over the Green Archers.
Go also thanked his teammates for their trust.
“I got a pass from Thirdy (Ravena) twice. I got a pass from Matt once... It’s better to say the team is clutch,” said Go.
