FREDERICK ‘JD’ Tungcab decided to stay with Adamson in college, giving the lowly Falcons a blue-chip high school prospect for the coming season of the UAAP men’s basketball tournament.
Tungcab confirmed to Spin.ph he will remain with the San Marcelino-based school after playing his first and only year with the Baby Falcons in Season 77.
The 17-year-old swingman was part of last season’s Mythical Five after averaging 12.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals a game for Adamson.
He also finished fifth in the MVP race to join Mike Nieto and Matt Nieto, Mark Dyke, and Aljun Melecio in the Mythical selection.
The Laguna native also helped the Baby Falcons reached the postseason after finishing as the third seed at the end of the eliminations, before bowing to De La Salle-Zobel in the stepladder playoff.
Tungcab, who stands at 6-foot-3, also stamped his mark as one of the best high school players in the Big City after seeing action in the SLAM Rising Stars Classic and the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) All-Star game recently.
The Falcons hope Tungcab will be a big boost for the team after finishing with the a 1-13 win-loss slate at the end of the season.
