THE UAAP decided to postpone Saturday's men's basketball games due to heavy rains brought about by tropical depression 'Ferdie,' according to league president Nilo Ocampo.
The inclement weather, which began as early as Friday, forced the cancellation of the matches between Adamson and University of the East at 2 p.m. and University of Santo Tomas against University of the Philippines scheduled at 4 p.m.
The juniors matches were ongoing when league officials announced the postponement of the seniors basketball games later in the afternoon.
The NCAA likewise cancelled its scheduled ballgames at The Arena in San Juan on Saturday, according to Management Committee chairman Fr. Vic Calvo.
No make-up date has been set, according to Ocampo. The UAAP official said the move to cancel the games was for the best interests and safety of the players and patrons in mind.
Ticket arrangements for the affected games will be honored upon confirmation of the final venue and date.
The Growling Tigers are seeking their second win in three outings against the Maroons following a 71-70 victory over four-time defending champion Ateneo.
The Falcons and Red Warriors, meanwhile, are aiming for their first victories of the season.
