In his last dance for the the University of the Philippines, Harold Alarcon continues to move like clockwork, as the defending champions pick up the pace midway through its UAAP Season 88 title defense.

The low-key Fighting Maroons guard put his tantalizing talents on full display on Wednesday, dropping 24 points on top of four dimes and three boards to rebound from their 69-72 loss to La Salle with a 78-74 win over National U on Wednesday.
As a core part of State U's ‘Maroon 5,’ Alarcon isn’t just about racking up the numbers and seizing the limelight, as he rides into sunset in the college ranks. He has so far normed 12.75 points, 4.13 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, all while being the maroon-and-green's overall statistical leader eight games into the season.
Forget about being the go-to guy, expect UP’s ‘Mr. Right’ and season-leading scorer to not only do the right things, but to also do things right.
“‘Yung draw lang ng play ng mga coaches, siyempre sign na rin ‘yun na kunin ko na [‘yung bola],” Alarcon told SPIN.ph.
“Kung ano lang ‘yung pinapakita ng defense, binabasa ko lang din nang maayos. Ganun lang din naman sa basketball eh, making the right decisions at the right moments.”
Harold's sights still set on the gold
While State U has an abundance of veteran figures like Gerry Abadiano, Terrence Fortea, Janjan Felicilda, and Reyland Torres onboard, it’s imperative for Alarcon and the rest of their senior core to fight like there’s no tomorrow.
Because quite frankly, by season’s end, there won’t be a next game, a next week, or a next campaign for them to look forward to.
“’Yung pag-lead talaga sa teammates ko kasi last playing year ko na at hindi na pwedeng relax-relax na lang kasi ‘di na mauulit ‘yung moment na ‘to kasama sila,” Alarcon said.
“Gagawin ko na lahat, gagawin ko na ‘yung pinaka-best ko para makuha namin every game, every panalo. Hindi ko iniisip ‘yung byproduct sa dulo. Ginagawa ko lang ‘yung process para makuha ‘yung win na ‘yun.”
