UNIVERSITY of the East will no longer appeal the decision of the UAAP technical committee upholding the two-game suspension of big man Charles Mammie.
Warriors coach Boycie Zamar said he has been instructed by school officials not to elevate the issue to the league’s Board of Trustees.
“The UE management has instructed me not to elevate the appeal to the UAAP board. As a good soldier, I will follow instructions, as much as I wanted to fight what I think was a non-call,” said Zamar.
The UE mentor said he disagrees with the committee’s decision to uphold the two-game suspension handed out by commissioner Chito Loyzaga on Mammie for incurring a third unsportsmanlike foul following a video review of the Red Warriors’ defeat to Far Eastern University.
Zamar believes the referees weren’t able to call a foul on the incident where Mammie entered Terrence Romeo’s landing spot that led to the two-game suspension.
“’Yung akin, it was a non-call. It’s debatable. Hindi naman mismo tinawag ng referee ‘yung nangyari. Mismong ‘yung referee sa harap, hindi nila tinawag,” said Zamar.
The former national coach also said the league doesn’t have guidelines on specific acts of infractions like entering a player’s landing spot.
“Ano ba ang guidelines of suspension sa landing spot?” Zamar asked.
