FILIPINO-Bulgarian ace and Gilas Youth hotshot Alex Konov will take his talents to Taft to play for the reigning UAAP champions De La Salle Green Archers.

Amid several offers both in the country and overseas, the 6-foot-7 prospect announced his much-awaited decision on Instagram on Tuesday morning.
"I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to De La Salle University Manila in the Philippines.
"I want to thank all my coaches and trainers that have helped me along the way. I also want to thank my parents for everything they have sacrificed over the years," Konov wrote.
Konov thanked incoming second-year champion mentor Topex Robinson for the chance to rep the green-and-white with five full playing years to his name starting Season 87 in September.
"Big thanks to Coach Topex (Robinson) and his staff for the opportunity. Can't wait to get to work. Go Green Archers!"
The eye-opener on Konov
Konov has national team experience already under his belt, as he put up promising numbers in the 2022 FIBA U16 Asian Championship with averages of 10 points, 2.7 boards, and 1.5 dimes.
Prior to La Salle, Konov's basketball career first took flight in the United States where he spent his high school years at Manasquan High School in New Jersey, averaging 11.1 markers and 2.2 rebounds.
Konov will join his fellow Green Archers by late July, shortly after the UAAP champs' ongoing preseason tilts and just roughly a month before Season 87 tips off on Sep. 7.
