GBOY Gob of La Salle has sustained a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury that will sideline him for the coming UAAP Season 79, according to La Salle coach Aldin Ayo.
Ayo said Gob suffered the injury in practice during their drills, and will sit out for the entire season due to the lengthy recovery period for an ACL tear.
“Nabagsakan. Aksidente,” said Ayo in describing how Gob got injured.
Gob played for only two games in his rookie season but was expected to play a major role in his sophomore year based on his playing time during the Filoil tournament.
Despite a season-ending injury to one of their players, Ayo said he doesn't encourage his players to minimize their effort in practice with Season 79 of the UAAP fast approaching.
“Hindi naman puwede mag-relax sa ensayo kasi we want to make it a habit,” he said
The new season begins on September 3.
