UNIVERSITY of the Philippines is close to adding former Adamson cager Frederick 'Jaydee' Tungcab to its pool of players, sources close to the team told SPIN.ph.

Tungcab, who was reportedly dropped by the Falcons after Season 79, is set to commit to the Maroons after speaking with UP officials these past few weeks, according to sources.

The 6-foot-3 Tungcab played for the Falcons in 2014, a year after making the Mythical Five in his first and only season with the Baby Falcons where he averaged 12.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals.

Tungcab, however, saw limited action for the Falcons in his first two seasons with the squad.

A blue-chip prospect in high school, Tungcab could be another piece in UP's rebuilding program that has already brought in Bright Akhuetie and UAAP Season 79 juniors MVP Juan Gomez de Liano.

However, Tungcab need to sit out one season due to residency rules before suiting up for the Maroons in Season 81.
