HAVING had to endure missed shot after missed shot early on in UAAP Season 88, Forthsky Padrigao finally broke through on Saturday.
The veteran guard exploded for 18 points built on 5-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc, steering University of Santo Tomas to a high-scoring 111-99 bounce back win over University of the East.
“Happy that we won,” he said afterward. “As for my performance, I just continue to work every day and my reps don’t stop. I’m just happy to see myself progress as well, but I’m more than happy that the team won rather than my individual performance.”
Before this, he was averaging 11 points in 30.4-percent shooting through two games, as he had to serve a one-game suspension during Growling Tigers' season-opener.

Beyond his hot shooting, the 6-foot playmaker also made sure to get his teammates involved and fought ffor 50-50 balls, finishing with six assists, six steals, and three rebounds.
“It’s been my responsibility, it’s my job to lead my teammates. There’s nothing new about that, I just want to do my job well and be good at it,” he said.
With his confidence on the uptick, the black-and-gold co-captain emphasized the importance of consistency, as they look to sustain their form moving forward.
“Like what I said earlier, I just continue my reps and my work. All of us are doing individual skills training with True Focus,” Padrigao stressed, referring to the skills training program led by Jolo Tamayo.
“We just have to continue doing that and hopefully, we can be consistent.”
