FORMER national youth team cager Kyle Suarez is expected to move to University of Santo Tomas after playing for just one season with the struggling University of the Philippines.
UST coach Bong Dela Cruz said the former Ateneo Blue Eaglets guard has already been attending practices of the Tigers.
“Nag-papractice siya sa amin. Wala pa documents niya,” UST coach Bong Dela Cruz said in an SMS message to Spin.ph.
Suarez posted paltry numbers in limited action during his rookie year averaging 2.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in only 11 minutes of play per outing in UAAP Season 76 with the Maroons but posted a winless year in 2013.
Prior to his stint with the Maroons, Suarez also played for the Philippines in the 2012 Fiba-Asia Under-18 Championship coached by Olsen Racela with Jerie Pingoy of Ateneo/Far Eastern University, Hubert Cani of National University, and even Season 76 Rookie of the Year Kyles Lao of UP as his teammates with the Nationals.
A source said Suarez will only redshirt for one year instead of two as he is expected to get his release from UP.
