MUCH has been written about University of Santo Tomas' super rookie Mark Nonoy, Pangasinense high-flyer Rhenz Abando, and Beninese forward Soulemane Chabi Yo.
But don't forget that there's a fourth newcomer for the Growling Tigers this upcoming UAAP Season 82.
Brent Paraiso is quietly getting his bearings back since leaving La Salle a year ago, and has established himself as a keeper for the team moving forward.
All of the limelight has been placed on Ricci Rivero's transfer to University of the Philippines, but 20-year-old Paraiso's situation in Espana isn't bad, considering his familiarity to the system of coach Aldin Ayo.
"I've been with coach Aldin for the past two years and now, I'm with him again," the 6-foot-2 swingman said.
"I think I can showcase my talent here in UST, and with the system of coach Aldin, I think I can really blend well to it with my new teammates."
So far, Paraiso has been happy to be a silent operator for the Growling Tigers, churning out 6.6 points on 36-percent shooting from threes, on top of 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the team's campaign in the 2019 PBA D-League.
And the results speak for themselves, with Ironcon-UST holding a 4-1 record in the Aspirants Group to place among the league's top teams.
Not a few couldn't help but speculate how far the Growling Tigers can reach come the UAAP with all of this preseason success.
However, Paraiso isn't content with UST's progress so far, knowing that it's still too early and there's always room for improvement, especially for a young team like theirs.
"We're okay right now, but there's still a lot to improve. We just got to focus on our game and see what happens," he said.
