FAR Eastern University gave Adamson the boot with a 63-60 nipping on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Jerom Lastimosa could not save the Soaring Falcons' campaign as he back-ironed his game-winning trey.
Adamson misses the Final Four for the first time in four years.
It was a tough stand for the Tamaraws, which squandered a 12-point lead, 55-43 in the fourth quarter and saw that lead trimmed down to just two, 62-60, after a Lenda Douanga basket with 1:55 on the clock.
L-Jay Gonzales gave FEU a bit of a breathing room with a split from the line with 1:28 remaining, yet kept Adamson's hopes alive with a number of turnovers in the endgame.
Luckily, Adamson could not convert late.
"Obviously we’re happy with the win, which was our seventh, but actually, we haven’t done anything yet," said coach Olsen Racela. "We have no reason really to celebrate."
Gonzales topped the Tamaraws with 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists as they tightened their grip on the fourth spot at 7-6.
Wendell Comboy also scored 11 points and had seven boards, while Ken Tuffin had 11 points and seven rebounds in the victory.
Pat Tchuente also did a solid job inside, hauling down 16 rebounds, on top of his four points and two blocks.
Adamson dropped to a 4-8 standing as it missed the semifinals for the first time since coach Franz Pumaren took over.
Douanga carried the Soaring Falcons with 10 points, 22 rebounds and two blocks.
Jerrick Ahanmisi also got 10 points but missed all of his seven shots from deep, while rookie Aaron Fermin had 10 points and five boards.
