FAR Eastern University hardly broke a sweat as it dispatched a watered-down Adamson squad, 82-56, to forge a playoff for the final semis berth in the UAAP Season 81 on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
It seemed over even before the game started as the Falcons played sans stars Jerrick Ahanmisi and Sean Manganti who were rested heading into their final four game clash against University of the Philippines on Saturday.
That was only validated the moment the game started.
The Tamaraws scored the first 14 points in the game and never looked back, as the game became uglier and uglier as it progressed, with the Falcons seemingly contented to be there and finish the game.
The lead went as high as 34 points in the third quarter, before the Tamaraws cruised to the finish line and settled for a 26-point victory as they brace for La Salle on Wednesday for the fourth and final semis spot in the tournament.
“We’re finally getting the breaks dito sa second round. Malaking bagay tong game na to, of course, with them missing Ahanmisi and Manganti, malaking bagay yan,” said FEU head coach Olsen Racela.
“We have one game to play to make it to the final four and we’ll take full advantage of that,” he added.
Wendell Comboy led a balanced Tamaraws attack as he finished with 11 points as Arvin Tolentino and Hubert Cani added 10 points apiece in the victory.
Jerom Lastimosa paced the Falcons with 11 points in a mostly forgettable performance for the Flacons, as they shot just 29 percent from the field and made just one of 20 attempts from beyond the arc.
