A FAR Eastern University official admitted Mac Belo and Russel Escoto are eligible to play one more season with the Tamaraws after a UAAP rule change, but insisted the school will leave the decision to the two stars.
FEU athletic director Mark Molina confirmed Belo and Escoto remained eligible for the coming UAAP season after the league board dropped the "seven-year window" for athletes on its eligibility rules.
But Molina said they will not make any effort to lure the two into suiting up again for the Tamaraws in Season 79, saying Belo and Escoto have already done their part for the school.
Both were key players in FEU's title run last season, with Belo named Finals MVP in the three-game victory over University of Santo Tomas.
“Mac and Russel have played their hearts out for FEU the past years. We are grateful for their service and sacrifice," Molina said. "Both are ready to take the next step in their basketball careers. We will not ask them to play another year in the UAAP."
Molina, however, made it clear that the doors are open for Belo and Escoto if they want to suit up again for the Tamaraws.
"However, if they wish to play for FEU again, we will welcome them with open arms," said Molina.
