FEU wins in double overtime to hand defending champion NU its second straight loss

FAR Eastern University-Diliman won in double overtime, 68-65, to hand National University its second straight loss in the UAAP Season 77 juniors basketball tournament on Wednesday at the Blue Eagle Gym.

Marvin Lee scored 25 points, including a triple that gave the Baby Tamaraws a 65-61 lead en route to their fifth victory in eight outings.

The reigning champion Bullpups (6-2) opened the second round on a sour note, losing for the second straight time after rolling with 22 straight victories.

Meanwhile, Mike Nieto, the leader in the Season 77 juniors MVP race, scored the marginal basket as Ateneo stayed undefeated with a tough 69-67 win over De La Salle-Zobel.

The Blue Eaglets scored their eighth win, extending their lead over the Bullpups to two games. The Junior Archers are now tied with the Baby Tamaraws for third with a 5-3 slate.

Adamson defeated University of the Philippines Integrated School, 76-52, to grab fifth place with a 4-4 slate. The Junior Maroons have a 1-7 win-loss record.
