WITH a week’s interval between games, Far Eastern University and National University face the tough task of managing the time and being in top form for the UAAP men’s basketball title decider.

The league originally wanted a Saturday playdate for Game Three but the unavailability of a venue forced the league to move it to Wednesday.

That means a full week break, which could be beneficial or detrimental depending on the team’s program. The Tamaraws and Bulldogs both took Thursday off, but it’s back to work after that.

Mac Belo welcomed the long break, saying it will give FEU a chance to prepare and bounce back against NU, which limited them their lowest total output this season and evened the title series at a game apiece.

“Kami ’yung galing sa talo. We have a one-week break. Makaka-prepare kami ng maganda ang NU,” said Belo, who had 17 points but shot 5-of-13 from the field.

Gelo Alolino, however, said it could go either way for NU.

“Both eh. Puwedeng yes so we can rest pa and we can make adjustments. Puwedeng no dahil nasa amin ang momentum. Sundin lang namin ang game plan nila coach and how we handle the practice,” said Alolino.

NU coach Eric Altamirano will address the problem in the couple of days, saying he will manage the next few days wisely in order to keep the Bulldogs in top form for Wednesday.

“We will just use this couple of days wisely, manage the players and prepare for Game Three,” said Altamirano.

“Game Three is a different ballgame. It’s always different. You throw everything out so you have to come out and be ready to play,” he added.
