FAR EASTERN University and Mapua cap their respective preseason preparations for the UAAP season by competing in a pocket tournament in Cebu.
The Tamaraws and the Cardinals will play against top Cebu-based teams Southwestern University and University of Visayas in a mini-competition organized by SWU coach Yayoy Alcoseba starting on Friday.
The Tamaraws failed to make the playoffs of the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup, but head coach Nash Racela said FEU's campaign in the Queen City of the South will give the team another opportunity to bond and build cohesion in time for Season 76 of the UAAP.
FEU also took the opportunity to make a trip to Medellin, a municipality located in Northern Cebu, where it held it team building.
“We also took advantage of the trip to hold our team building,” said Racela.
RR Garcia has also joined the Tamaraws just in time for the pocket meet after suiting up for NLEX in the D-League Foundation Cup Finals.
The Cardinals’ stint in the meet, meanwhile, will be one of the few for the team after a relatively quiet preseason that saw them shy away from joining any major summer tournaments.
Newly-appointed coach and cage great Atoy Co said the decision was made since the team wasn’t ready to play in any preseason competitions following his hiring last February.
