FEU Lady Tamaraws stun La Salle Lady Archers in UAAP women's basketball

FAR Eastern University stunned second-running De La Salle, 66-62, on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for only its third win in the UAAP Season 79 women's basketball tournament.

National University routed University of Santo Tomas, 71-49, to extending its unbeaten run to 11 games.

Loraine Ventura had 13 points while Maria Balleser and Princess Jumuad added 10 points apiece as the Lady Tamaraws moved in a tie with the Tigresses for sixth place at 3-7.

The victory also rejuvenated FEU's Final Four bid as it only trails joint fourth placers Adamson University and Ateneo by a full game.

It was only the Lady Archers' second loss of the tournament.

Camille Claro at Kat Nunez had 10 points apiece for 8-2 La Salle.

Reigning MVP Afril Bernardino had 24 points and 14 rebounds, Gemma Miranda chipped in 14 points and 10 boards while Jack Daniel Animam also had a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs.

NU, which also extended its winning run to 43 games, is three wins away from securing an outright spot in the finals.
