    FEU, La Salle cagebelles remain unscathed

    TITLEHOLDER Far Eastern University and De La Salle scored narrow wins on Thursday at the Blue Eagle Gym to remain unscathed in the UAAP women's basketball tournament.

    The Lady Tamaraws relied on their free-throw shooting to hold off Ateneo, 51-48, while the Lady Archers edged Adamson University in overtime, 45-43.

    FEU, which stretched its remarkable winning run to 21 games dating back to 2011, and De La Salle are unbeaten in three games.

    The Lady Tamaraws scored nine free throws in the payoff period, including Jack Tanaman's charity shot in the last 2.4 seconds left to stave off a tough Lady Eagles challenge.

    Camille Sambile led the charge for the FEU with 14 points and eight rebounds.

    The Lady Archers managed to snatch the victory after Analie Tongco missed both free throws in the dying seconds in overtime. 

    University of the Philippines survived University of Santo Tomas's 25-point explosion in the fourth quarter to hack out a 51-49 win, while National University routed University of the East, 62-41, in Thursday’s other games.

    The Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-1, while the Lady Maroons, the Lady Warriors and the Tigresses are now at 1-2. The Lady Eagles are winless in three starts.
