FAR Eastern University on Monday appealed the disqualifying foul called by the referees on Ron Dennison in the game against University of the Philippines, a sanction that merits an automatic one-game suspension.

FEU athletic director Mark Molina confirmed the school has made a formal appeal against the call on Dennison, although he declined to reveal the contents of the letter out of respect for UAAP commissioner Rebo Saguisag.

Molina, however, said FEU felt the decision to slap Dennison with a disqualifying foul, and his subsequent ejection, was not correct.

Dennison was called for a disqualifying foul after the referees caught him hitting University of the Philippines guard Paul Desiderio in the abdomen area, causing the Maroons forward to drop to the floor in pain.

Dennison, however, denied hitting his former teammate at the University of Visayas high school team, saying the UP guard simply flopped.

If the call stands upon review, Dennison will be suspended for FEU’s next game against University of Santo Tomas on October 1. Dennison already had an unsportsmanlike foul during the first quarter.
