FANS began camping out early Saturday night outside the Mall of Arena in the hope of getting tickets for the UAAP Cheerdance Competition on Sunday afternoon.
About 30 fans from UAAP and even non-UAAP schools were already camping out beside the ticket booths of the MOA Arena in Pasay City as early as 6 p.m. on Saturday, hopefully to be first in line when the few remaining tickets are sold at exactly 6 a.m.
Not even the efforts of Mall of Asia Arena security personnel to have them vacate the premises could chase out the early birds who stood their ground while steel barricades were being put up around the venue.
“We wanted to make sure that we have tickets. We are willing to wait for hours pero pinapaalis nila kami,” said a fan who requested that he not be named.
The fans, mostly from University of the Philippines, Far Eastern University, University of Santo Tomas, and even from a non-member school, said they decided to camp out after reading on social media that other fans plan to arrive very early on Sunday to line up for tickets.
“We are willing to follow the system but I hope that they make sure that those who are early will be the first in line. Baka kasi may mga dumating ng 5 a.m. pero sila pa maunang magkaroon ng ticket,” said another fan.
The fans said they failed to obtain tickets from their respective schools due to the high demand. Ticket prices are expected to skyrocket on Sunday in the black market.
One fan said that he will do anything to secure a ticket.
“Hindi kami mapapaalis ditto. Kahit pa magka-Mendiola Masaccre pa,” said the fan in jest.
