IT'S all fair and square, as La Salle’s foreign student-athlete (FSA) Henry Agunanne finally got back at former teammate Precious Momowei, now playing for University of the East.

“It feels good to win, but I wouldn’t say it’s about just me and him right now. But before the game, we told each other good luck,” the first-year big told SPIN.ph.

Agunanne and Momowei go way back, playing for the same high school team in Nigeria. The latter would later on find himself in the middle of the Red Warriors' return to relevance, while the former stood out in Centro Escolar University before moving to Taft Ave.

In their first meeting in the UAAP, Momowei went for a monstrous 21 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in 40 minutes of play, but UE succumbed to the vengeful Green Archers, 77-68, on Saturday at the Big Dome.

Agunanne, for his part, only tallied three rebounds to go with a single block, but nonetheless had no problems whatsoever in contributing from the bench - clapping and cheering his heart out for his teammates.

Precious history lesson

In doing so, he was made to remember a thing or two about the recent clashes between the green and red.

“At the bench, I was like, why do we always have a hard time against UE? I was told it’s a thing that goes back three seasons ago,” the 6-foot-11 FSA said.

The Red Warriors had dealt La Salle’s lone loss thus far in Season 87.

At the same time, the Recto-based squad also got one over the Green Archers in the 2024 Filoil EcoOil Preseason via come from behind victory.

And so, breaking the red-and-white spell was much more meaningful for Agunanne rather than getting back at his old pal.

As he put it, “I’ve observed that since the preseason. That’s why it feels good. It’s a great start to our second round."
