A 30-point beating in the UAAP Finals is hard to shake off.

Not for Evan Nelle.

According to the La Salle guard, the road back, albeit easier said than done, starts by forgetting about being on the losing end of the most lopsided title series opener in the league's Final Four Era (1993).

"As soon as tonight, I’m going to forget about this. I’m just going to watch the game and we’re gonna talk tomorrow, practice tomorrow, talk about everything," Nelle said after the Green Archers' 96-67 loss to the UP Maroons in Game One on Wednesday night.

"It’s a series - we have to move on really quick no matter how good, how bad we played, or if we won or lost. We still got to move on. Come tomorrow, come the next few days, our mindset’s going to be different," Nelle told SPIN.ph.

Better than revenge

Held to just eight points and two early fouls, Nelle shrugged off the defeat that was and quickly turned the page on what could still be for the hunting Archers.

But exacting revenge on the Maroons, however, isn't in the senior Archer guard's plans as he vows to stick to the fundamentals and leave it all on the floor in what could be his UAAP swan song in three days' time.

"We don’t want revenge, we just want to improve on ourselves. Our greatest opponent is ourselves. We’ll see the tape, I’ll watch it tonight. We’ll have viewing tomorrow in practice and we have to be ready.

"That’s for sure (that I still have something to give). I was in foul trouble in the first half (two fouls), I don’t know. We have to adjust to the calls after and just do everything on how the game’s played. That’s on me," Nelle said.

And when asked on his personal mission come Game Two, it was quite an easy thought for the frank and well-spoken Archer.

"Hungry to improve. That’s just it."
