    La Salle, UE score big wins to gain share of second spot in UAAP women's basketball

    LA Salle and University of the East scored wins on Saturday to stay within striking distance of defending champion National University in the UAAP Season 79 women's basketball tournament at the MOA Arena.

    Camille Claro and Jamie Roxas combined for 26 points as the Lady Archers downed Adamson University, 69-61.

    Love Sto. Domingo had 18 points and nine rebounds while Eunique Chan tossed in 12 points and six boards to lift the Lady Warriors past Ateneo, 60-50, for their fourth straight win after a season-opening loss to the Lady Bulldogs.

    La Salle and UE are in joint second at 4-1, behind NU which is undefeated in four games.

    No Lady Falcon scored double digits, with Jamie Alcoy and Rose Rosario scoring nine points apiece.

    Hazelle Yam and Jollina Go had 13 points apiece for the Lady Eagles, who were without suspended coach John Flores.

    Adamson University and Ateneo fell at 2-3.
