DE La Salle returned to the UAAP women’s basketball final after defeating University of the East, 72-50, on Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Lady Archers limited the Lady Warriors to just two points in the second quarter en route to the lopsided victory as they arranged a best-of-three final against unbeaten National University.
Khate Castillo had 23 points, while Camille Claro had 13 points and eight assists for the Lady Archers, who finished the elimination round with an 11-3 win-loss record.
The second-seeded Lady Archers, champions in Season 76, finally advanced after missing out on the championship series despite having a twice-to-beat edge the past two years.
“We got over the psychological hump having the twice-to-beat advantage in the past two years,” said La Salle coach Cholo Villanueva. “Finally, we overcame it.”
The Lady Archers take on the Lady Bulldogs, who gained an outright finals berth after going 14-0 in the elimination round.
Love Sto. Domingo had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Warriors.
