Aldin Ayo's ejection meant an automatic one-game suspension under league rules, a penalty that Commissioner Rebo Saguisag says is warranted after a review of the incident.

LA Salle has submitted an appeal on the automatic one-game suspension incurred by Green Archers head coach Aldin Ayo following his ejection from the team's last game in UAAP Season 79.

Edwin Reyes, La Salle’s representative to the UAAP board, confirmed the school handed its appeal to the UAAP Commissioner's Office on Friday afternoon just before the 48-hour window lapsed.

Reyes declined to reveal their points of contention.

UAAP commissioner Rebo Saguisag is expected to hand a final decision on Saturday, or on the eve of La Salle's first showdown of the season with arch-rival Ateneo at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Ayo was ejected on Wednesday in La Salle’s match against University of the East after mockingly trying to fit an eyeglass on a referee he confronted for a contentious call.

The ejection meant an automatic one-game suspension under league rules, a penalty that Saguisag said was warranted after a review of the incident.

Saguisag, however, said he is willing to listen to the side of La Salle.
