    De La Salle-FEU duel for twice-to-beat berth to kick off playoffs on Saturday

    DE LA Salle and Far Eastern University will kick off the UAAP Season 76 men’s basketball postseason on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena, according to a schedule released by the league.

    The Green Archers and the Tamaraws face each other in a playoff for the right to claim the No. 2 spot in the Final Four and the twice-to-beat advantage that goes with it.

    That game should start what has become a veritable best-of-three series between the Tamaraws and the Green Archers for a place in the finals.

    The Final Four formally opens on Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum with top seed National University going up against the winner of the Ateneo-University of Santo Tomas elimination-round game on Wednesday.

    The Bulldogs own a twice-to-beat advantage against the Ateneo-UST winner, which will get the fourth seeding.

    La Salle and FEU will then collide in the formal start of their Final Four series on Wednesday, September 28 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

    Once the semifinal match-ups reached the full distance, the final game will be played on Saturday, September 28 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

    Meanwhile, the best-of-three finals — all to be played at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum — will begin on Wednesday, October 2. Game Two will be played on Saturday, October 5, while Game Three, if necessary, is scheduled on Wednesday, October 9.

    Juniors basketball Final Four schedule also released

    In the juniors division, the step-ladder playoff will begin on Tuesday, September 17, at the Blue Eagle Gym with De La Salle-Zobel facing defending champion Far Eastern University-Diliman.

    The winner will next face second-ranked Ateneo on Saturday, September 21 at the Mall of Asia Arena with the Blue Eaglets holding a twice-to-beat.

    The juniors final, where NU is already waiting after sweeping the elimination round, will be held on September 28 (MOA), with games scheduled on October 2 (Araneta), and October 5 (Araneta) if necessary.

    The women’s Final Four schedule will begin either on September 21 if there will be a playoff or September 22 if there is no playoff.
